ASSOCIATION OF THE INTERETHNIC NETWORK OF MIDWIVES AND MIDWIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CHOCÓ
The midwives of the black Afro-descendant mestizo communities and indigenous people of the department are considered the "midwives" of the town, in others their figure is perceived as witches between the indigenous "shaman" and in the urban part of the communities they are the counsellors, but all of them are united by the same cause: they fight to keep their profession alive and the remote populations without medical or assistance services see them as a way out and the they consider a light in the darkness and in their hands they deliver the life of two or more beings.
In all this work before the training consultancies toured by some municipalities and the interest of organizations in training leaders to reduce the mortality of children under five (5) years; the Interethnic network of midwives and midwives of the department of Choco, which is formed with a main objective: Integrar midwives/ros in un space for the exchange of intercultural knowledge in the work of midwifery, in the management and care of pregnancy, before, during and after childbirthintegrate their knowledge with new experiences and coexistence between people who perform the same work, with differences in ethnic groups and roles within their communities, being these connoisseurs of their worldview in the territory that they practiced as midwives.
