MIDWIFE

Woman or man; that by tradition or culture through empirical knowledge from orality and practice,  they become masters of the midwifery trade and help a woman before, during and after pregnancy in her environment and in her context socioeconomic and family to preserve the life of a new being. This person acquired her skills by attending births herself or by working with other traditional birth attendants.

GENESIS OF MIDWIFERY

This mission or great work  was born and heard from AC, Women who preserved the lives of children at birth were evidenced. This is the work carried out by the first Hebrew female midwives, who cared for pregnant women among themselves and for Egyptian women caregivers of pregnant women and of the RN.  This beginning of the work and recognition of midwifery is evidenced in the book ofGenesis chapter. 35 verse 17 and chap. 38  verse 28.  Exodus chapter. 1 verse 15 to 21 of the Reina Valera Bibles 1960.

HISTORY

Before the province of Choco on February 2, 1813 according to history, the entire process of slavery was described in 1795 in a brief account of one of the women  luchadoras_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_ and a slave (Agustina) who, being a woman  pregnant as a slave,  already tired of the abuse, makes use of _cc781905-5cde-3b5bbdbb-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-146-3b5cf-3194 ways of the law and is not favored by the current laws at that time. Who would attend this pregnant woman full of anger and anguish? It makes us think that in the midst of these pregnant women who gestated for slavery and in the midst of these abuses those who attended these births were slave women and without naming them, these were the first midwives preserving life among them, of the child_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_ and girls in the province of Chocó.

In 1906 the  Intendencia del Chocó was created, which made it possible to detach the Chocoan territory from the  Cauca and join it to the provinces of San Juan and Atrato. And in the latter, he was born in Neguá in 1907 attended by a midwife; the first Choco Lawyer and defender of Diego Luis Córdoba. From these beginnings, in silence and without recognition but with love and acceptance, the midwives of the black and indigenous communities in the department of Chocó have worked.

Today midwifery is recognized nationally. Organizations in their eagerness to contribute to peace and reduce conflict in the midst of war have trained men and women to help safeguard the lives of the less favored and with the aim of facilitating health processes on issues such as Birth. Thus training  health promoters and community agents. These leaders help their population in all their communities in these training processes the book was born by international organizations where there is no doctor and that is how the midwives were trained in the department  and at an international level the WHO insists that midwives are unconditional help.
